Dancong Oolong Tea - Brainstorming Tea Bonbon

Know where your tea comes from is just the start. To enjoy a complete journey into tea drinking you will want to know more about tea makers grow and organize their plants.

'Dancong' is a strange noun, perhaps not only for foreigners but also for Chinese people, despite the fact that it comes from their language.

In Chinese 'Dan' means 'Singleness' and 'Cong' means tall arbor trees. As the name implies Dancong Oolong tea means that famers pick the fresh leaves from each single tree and then process them separately. The single-plant production method creates the special tastes and aromas of Dancong Oolong teas.

For the "Brainstorming" Tea Plays Bonbons, all the Oolong leaves come from the Fenghuang mountain (Phoenix Mountain 凤凰山 or Feng-huang Shan) in Guangdong, where more than 900 years' worth of cultivation provides the ecosystem and the human inhabitants with a powerful shared memory.

Dancong plants on the mountain are first selected carefully from thousands of trees by the local tea farmers. If a tree is good enough, it can become Fenghuang-Dancong, which is the general name of these elite single plants. Cuttings are the means by which these plants are widely cultivated on Fenghuang Mountain.

When you next enjoy your Tea Plays tea, perhaps think about the dedication involved in preserving the flavor of a single tree. Would you like to visit Phoenix Mountain some day?
